Abstract

Professional teachers must be committed to students and their learning process, be able to master the subject matter to be taught as well as deliver it to students, be responsible for monitoring student learning outcomes through evaluation techniques. The researched found the problem in MA Pancasila namely : There are still flaws, such as teachers who are occasionally late for class. Students' interest in learning English remains low or non-existent. While studying, students become easily bored or sleepy, some students have not yet to complete the KKM. The teaching profession is defined in Law No. 14 of 2005 concerning teachers and lecturers as the basic competencies required of teachers. Professional competence, pedagogical competence, social competence, and personality competence are examples of these competencies. The main purpose of this research is to find out the correlation between teachers’ professionalism perception and students’ achievement in English learning at MA Pancasila Bengkulu city. The methodology used in this study is quantitative. The positivist philosophy is the foundation of the research approach known as quantitative research, which is used to study a certain population or sample. In this case the population of Pancasila students is 102 students, so the research sample took random sampling part of the population, 82 students at MA Pancasila. In this study, questionnaire and test used to collect data on the effect of teacher professionalism on student achievement. The resulted of data analysis based on the researched used Person Product Moment in SPSS of analyzed the correlation between the variable English teacher professionalism (X) and students’ achievement (Y) is very strong with a correlation coefficient of 0.993. It is possible to conclude that there is a very strong relationship between teacher professionalism perception and students’ achievement at MA Pancasila Bengkulu.
