Abstract

The purpose of this study was to evaluate multimedia English learning textbooks for class XI used at SMKN 4 Bengkulu Selatan. Descriptive qualitative methodology was used in this study. Observation checklist and documentation serve as research tools. This study uses textbooks as the main object and an English teacher as a complementary informant. According to research findings, current English textbooks are still not successful if there are no other teaching resources available to meet students' needs. The problem with textbooks is that the topics discussed are not in accordance with the needs of students at SMKN 4 Bengkulu Selatan. Evaluation and assessment of textbooks by the National Education Standards Agency (BNSP) (which consists of four textbook assessment points) was used to collect data for this study. These points are: (a) content feasibility; (b) presentation feasibility; and (c) language feasibility; d). graphic feasibility. Based on the feasibility evaluation of the contents of the book, there are several things that still need to be improved. For example, this book is quite good, but there are some areas of appropriateness of the content, especially the area of suitability of the material to learning needs, which are not suitable for learning English for multimedia majors.
