Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship of three variables, namely awareness genre (X1), reading habits (X2), and students' reading comprehension (Y). This research is done at SMAN 3 Bengkulu City and students of class XI as the study population. From the entire population, 30 students were selected as the research sample. This research using quantitative methods and correlation models as research designs. As for collecting data, there are several research instruments used namely tests (reading comprehension tests) and genre awareness and reading habit questionnaires (2000). To analyze the data, this study uses the product r moment regression coefficient test and multiple R through the SPSS 26 program. This research proves that: (1) there is a relationship between genre awareness (X1) and students' reading comprehension (Y) with a higher correlation value of 0.648 greater than 0.05; (2) there is a relationship between reading habits (X2) and comprehension reading students (Y) with a correlation index value of 0.675 which is greater than 0.0; (3) there is a simultaneous relationship between the three research variables X1, X2, and Y with a Ry.12 correlation index of 0.754 and ρ-value = 0.00 <0.05 which states that Ho was rejected. The contribution of the independent variable to the dependent variable is 75.4%, Which can be said that the success of reading comprehension is determined by students' knowledge of genres and their reading habits. It can be concluded that students' knowledge of genres and their reading habits relate to their reading comprehension skills.
