Abstract

This research is a qualitative descriptive study that aims to determine the suitability of the exercise book content with the cognitive level of the Revised Bloom's Taxonomy and the dominant dimension in the Revised Bloo's Taxonomy. This research is focused on analyzing the exercise book Bright An English Course For SMP/MTs, whic.h was published by Nur Zaida. Data was analyzed using data distribution tables to group data included in questions or instructions, based on the dimensions of remembering, understanding, applying, analyzing, evaluating, creating. The results of this study show that the highest percentage of understanding activities is in this exercise book with a total (39.2%) or with a frequency of 53 out of 135 activities. The most activity at both cognitive levels is remembering with a percentage (34.2%) or 46 of 135 activities. The highest activity for the three cognitive levels is Analyzing with a percentage (20.7%) or 28 out of 135 activities. The lowest activity is Applying and Creating with their respective percentages (1.4%). Based on data analysis, this Bright An English Course workbook is more dominant on lower-level thinking processes, namely remembering and understanding. Even though analyzing is included in the higher order thinking category, this cannot be said to be in accordance with the procedure because it only has 28 activities out of 135 activities. This shows that the Bright An English Course For SMP/MTs exercise book is not in accordance with the revised cognitive dimension theory of Bloom's taxonomy. The author of the book Bright An English Couse is unbalanced in presenting all dimensions in the book. Only 25.1% are included in higher order thinking processes. This research has implications for schools and teachers to choose the right exercise book for students.
