Abstract
This research examines the implementation of Merdeka Curriculum in teaching English at SMPN 2 Bengkulu Selatan using a qualitative descriptive method. The focus of this research is on understanding the processes, challenges, and strategies in implementing a curriculum that emphasizes educational diversity and flexibility. Results from observations, interviews, and documentation reveal that SMPN 2 Bengkulu Selatan has successfully integrated the Merdeka Curriculum, despite some obstacles. Teacher preparation is an important key, where English teachers study curriculum regulations, analyze learning outcomes, prepare learning tools, and understand the principles of Merdeka Curriculum assessment. This research also highlights the implementation of the curriculum in classroom activities as well as the assessment methods used, namely diagnostic, formative, and summative assessments, which are tailored to students' competencies and needs. Despite the challenges, the Merdeka Curriculum offers a flexible and holistic approach to education, and encourages the development of students' cognitive, affective, and psychomotor skills in a democratic learning environment
