Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out whether there was a significant difference between the speaking ability of students who were taught using the English Guessing Game and without using it taught at MAS PP Hidayatul Qomariyah Bengkulu. The design of this study is Experimental research, which uses Quasi-Experimental research. The subjects of the study were students of class XI MAS PP Hidayatul Qomariyah Bengkulu. Researcher used cluster random sampling as a sampling technique and took two classes as samples. Class XI A, as an Experimental class consisting of 20 students and XI B as a Control class consisting of 20 students. The instrument of this study is a test. The data of this study is collected with two kinds of tests, pre-test and post-test. Pre-test is used to determine students' speaking skill before getting treatment and post-test is used to determine students' speaking ability after getting treatment. In analyzing the data, researcher used the formula independent sample T-test and paired sample T-test using SPSS version 16. Based on the analysis of the t-test formula is obtained sig. The value is 0.000. It can be stated that 0.000<0.05. This means that the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected, while the alternative hypothesis (H1) is accepted. The author concludes that there is a significant effect on the use of Guessing Games in English subject on the speaking skills of students at MAS PP Hidayatul Qomariyah Bengkulu.
