Abstract

This research is focused on the questioning strategies used by veteran and novice teachers. This research is very important in the academic world. Especially for a teacher to make it easier for them to know what questioning strategies are used to make students active in class. And of course asking this can also be very helpful for students to be able to interact again with their teachers and vice versa. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. Researchers used observations and interviews to collect data on the Veterans and Beginners. Observations were made to see firsthand the teaching and learning activities of the two teachers and then after that an interview session would be held to see whether or not there was a relationship between observation and interviews. The results of data collection through observation and interviews are. Beginner teachers use the strategy of asking a lot of questions at the beginning of learning, more precisely when the lesson will begin and the one that is more dominantly used by novice teachers is Probing Questions. As for the Veteran Teacher, he used the strategy of asking questions that had taken place. And the most dominant used by veteran teachers is the Divergent Question.
