Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the existence of a project to strengthen the profile of Pancasila students in the independent learning curriculum as well as the most dominant one in the English textbook entitled "Big Show" and to determine the quality of English textbook used in class IV Elementary School (SD) with criteria of a good book by Demir and Ertas. The object of this research is an English textbook entitled "BIG SHOW" published by PT. Asta science of success. This research is a form of evaluation by using an evaluation checklist as a data collection technique. The data was then analyzed through 4 stages, namely data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The results showed that the big show book included several themes from the project to strengthen the Pancasila student profile in the independent learning curriculum and the most dominant theme was the sustainable lifestyle theme with a percentage rate of 44.44% and the results showed that the standard of "Big Show" textbook “This is very good” according to the evaluation criteria where the percentage of 97.27% is in the Very good category. However, this book does not include elements of local culture from various regions, it is good that the publisher includes these elements because students are not simply familiar with the culture of the target language but also the local culture. Based on these results, the researcher suggests that the "Big Show" textbook is good for use by teachers and students in learning English in schools at the elementary school (SD) level.
