Abstract

This research aims to find out the correlation between motivation in learning English and the English learning achievement at the seventh grade of SMP 01 Bengkulu city and to find out the factors that influence achievement of students in learning English at the seventh grade of SMP 01 Bengkulu city. This research is correlation research designand This research uses quantitative method. It is one of method that correlate between one variable to other variables for the purpose of describing existing condition and result of the correlation between variable. It means to know have or not correlate between two or variable. This research is connecting between motivation in learning English and English learning achievement. Population of this research is the seventh grade students of SMP N 01 Bengkulu city. It consist of 8 classes, from (VII A – VII H). The total number of population is 280 students. The total number of the seventh grade student of SMP N 01 Bengkulu in academic year 2023/2024. The results of the study show, the result of hypothesis testing were: tsig 0,000 And α= 0,05, then by having The Correlation between Motivation in Learning English and the English Learning Achievement ( A correlation study at the seventh grade of SMPN 01 Bengkulu City) Since tsig was bigger than α (tsig < α), null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted. The total highest score motivation was 27, frequency 2, and the relative of frequency was 2,9%. Then the total lowest score was and 12, frequency 2 and relative of frequency was 2,9%. The total achievement highest score was 30, frequency 18, and the relative of frequency was 25,7%. Then the total lowest score was and 17, frequency 4 and relative of frequency was 5,7%
