Abstract
This study investigates the factors influencing EFL students' speaking ability and evaluates the effectiveness of TikTok as a digital micro-learning tool. Employing a mixedmethods design, data were collected from 38 EFL students through questionnaires, semi-structured interviews, short monologue speaking tests, and classroom observations. Descriptive statistical analysis revealed that while students possess high academic motivation (M = 6.13) and strong perceived utility of English (M = 6.21), their oral performance is significantly hindered by psychological barriers, specifically high speaking anxiety (M = 5.95) and low self-confidence (M = 5.45). Regarding digital integration, TikTok proved highly effective for receptive learning, vocabulary acquisition, and pronunciation shadowing, contributing to strong performance in message clarity (84%) and fluency (75%). However, a receptive-productive gap persists, as digital anxiety prevents students from creating public content. The study concludes that while short-form digital media enhances independent input, effective speaking development requires a blended pedagogical approach that combines digital micro-learning with psychologically supportive, low-anxiety classroom interactions.
