Abstract

This research aims to find out kinds of code mixing and code switching used on Maudy Ayunda Youtube Channel. The objective of this research was identify the forms of code mixing and code switching which appears in the video of Maudy Ayunda Youtube Channel according to Hoffman’s theory and describe the reason of the code mixing and code switching appears in video Maudy Ayunda Youtube Channel according to Hoffman’s theory. This research was descriptive qualitative method and the human research is the main instrument of this research. The primary source of the data in this study taken from the video in Maudy Ayunda music video youtube channel entitled “Maudy Ayunda Pernah Malas Gak Sih ( Q&A part 1) and Maudy Ayunda Ngomongin Previllage (Q & A part 2). The result based on Hoffman’s theory, in forms of code mixing and code switching, there are 42 data which had been found by the researcher. The data showed that intra lexical code mixing are the most dominant types of code mixing in the video, and it is about 17 data, in the second place intra lexical code mixing it is about 2 data. In code Switching the data showed inter sentential code switching is the most dominant types of code switching in the video, and it is about 12 data, the second place intra sentential code switching, it is about 10 data, and the third place tag switching, it is about 3 data. The result in the reason of code mixing and code switching in the video, there are 42 data. Then, the researcher found 3 data of the reason of code mixing and code switching based on Hoffman’s theory.
