Abstract

Speaking is categorized as a difficult skill by students and researchers also found that students are less motivated in learning to speak because of monotonous class activities and the absence of media in the teaching and learning process. The aim of this research is to determine significant differences in students' abilities between those who use scientific approach techniques. with those who don't. Class VIII students. The research method used was non-equivalent quasi-experimental control group design. In the nonequivalent control group design there are two groups, namely the experimental group and the control group. The research population was class VIII students at Mts Pancasila Bengkulu. This research chose class VIII A as the experimental group (20 students) and class VIII B as the control group (20 students) as the research sample. The research instrument used was an oral exam consisting of a pre-test and post-test. In the pre-test students were instructed to answer each question using a scientific approach related to interpersonal interaction skills and Istihan in front of the class using relay playing techniques and in the post-test the difference was only in the material. The research results showed that there was a significant increase in students' speaking abilities who used scientific approach techniques. Based on statistics, there are significant differences in student abilities between those who use the approach technique. After the pre-test the researcher carried out the learning process. After the learning process is carried out, students are given a post-test to measure learning outcomes. The average pretest score in the experimental class was 72 and in the control class was 62.
