Abstract

This study aims to determine whether there is a significant difference between students taught using story grammar strategies and students taught without using grammar strategies in reading narrative text. This study is a quantitative research that uses a quasi-experimental design. In this study, the author used an experimental class anda control class as samples where the number of samples was 60 students selected from 2 classes. From these 2 classes. The instrument of this research is a test. This research data was collected through two kinds of tests, namely pre-test and post-test. In analysing the data, the author used the independent sample t-test formula which was calculated using the SPSS 25 program. The results of this study showed that students' reading ability in the experimental class was in the very good category and the control class was in the good category. Based on the analysis of the t-test formula, the sig value was obtained. 0.000 where the value is smaller than 0.05 (sig. = 0.000 < 0.05). This means that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. Therefore, it can be concluded that there is a significant difference in using the Effectiveness of Using the Story Grammar Strategy on the Text Reading Achievement of Grade Eight Students at SMPN 16 Bengkulu City.
