Abstract

This study evaluates the impact of digital storytelling on students' speaking skills in English language learning. Using a quasi-experimental design with a quantitative approach, the research involved pre-tests and post-tests conducted on experimental and control groups over six sessions. The analysis results show that although there was an increase in the average scores in the experimental group, no significant difference was found between the pre-test and post-test (Sig. 2-tailed: pre-test = 0.651; post-test = 0.246). The calculated effect size (Cohen's d: pre-test = -0.061; post-test = 0.158) also indicates a very small impact. Therefore, digital storytelling does not significantly enhance students' speaking skills compared to traditional teaching methods, highlighting the need for additional strategies for greater effectiveness.
