Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between students'' personality and English learning achievement among Grade IX students at SMPN 7 Bengkulu City. measured five personality traits: Openness to Experience, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreement, and Neuroticism. This study uses a quantitative descriptive method which focuses this research on five student personality traits based on Lewis R Golbert's theory. The population in this study is grade IX students at SMPN 7 Kota Bengkulu, which is 146 students.data was collected through filling out a questionnaire which was attended by 60 respondents.The study found that low openness (21.6%) limits adaptability and creativity in learning English, while emotional instability (15%) hinders performance due to anxiety. High conscientiousness (21.6%) improves achievement through organization and perseverance. High agreeableness (25%) fosters cooperation in group learning. Low extraversion (16.8%) reduces participation in oral English activities, affecting language acquisition.Based on the results of research that has been conducted at SMPN 7 Kota Bengkulu class IX shows that: first, based on the results of student personality questionnaires, the most excellent personality type of grade IX students is agreeableness.
