Abstract
This research investigates the types of English teacher talk and its role in facilitating classroom interaction at MTs Humaira Kota Bengkulu. The study aims to identify the categories of teacher talk used during English lessons and analyze how such communication strategies contribute to a more interactive and engaging learning environment. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through classroom observations, interviews with the English teacher, and supporting documentation. The findings reveal that the teacher employed various types of talk as classified by Brown (2001), including praising, questioning, giving information, using student ideas, and providing corrective feedback. These forms of teacher talk were used not only to deliver material but also to create a supportive atmosphere that encouraged student participation. Code- switching between English and Indonesian was applied strategically to aid comprehension and maintain student engagement. The results show that teacher talk significantly influenced classroom dynamics, helping students feel more confident, involved, and motivated in the learning process. This study highlights the importance of teacher talk as a tool to enhance student interaction and language acquisition, particularly in faith-based educational settings like madrasahs.vThis research investigates the types of English teacher talk and its role in facilitating classroom interaction at MTs Humaira Kota Bengkulu.
