Abstract
Songs are a form of literary work that possess linguistic beauty and depth of meaning, serving as a medium for emotional expression and a reflection of the creator's life. This research is motivated by the phenomenon of the nasheed song "Sabil Ad-Dumu" by Muhammad Al-Muqit, which is rich in meaningful symbols such as tears, prayer, and submission to Allah elements that cannot be understood merely literally. The research problem focuses on how denotative meanings, connotative meanings, and myths are manifested in the lyrics of Sabil Ad-Dumu according to Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis, as well as the symbolic meanings contained therein. This study employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive-analytical method. Data collection techniques were conducted through literature review and note-taking of the song's lyrical text. The data analysis technique used is Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis, which includes the identification of the signifier and signified across three levels of signification: denotation, connotation, and myth. The results of the study indicate that at the denotative level, the lyrics describe concrete events such as tears, prayers, and wounds. Connotatively, the symbol of tears is interpreted as inner purification, prayer as the connection between the servant and the Creator, and wounds as life's suffering that carries hope. At the mythical level, the song constructs a religious worldview that suffering and tears are not signs of weakness, but rather spiritual strengths used to achieve peace of soul and closeness to Allah. Ultimately, these symbols represent the human spiritual journey from despair toward the light of faith.
