Abstract

This study aims to describe the process of psychosexual identity exploration, identify its influencing factors, and analyze its impact on the social and psychological lives of female students at SMP Negeri 09 Bengkulu City. A qualitative approach with a case study method was employed. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and observation of three core informants and six supporting informants, analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, with triangulation for credibility. The findings show that: (1) this phenomenon is part of adolescent identity-seeking, consistent with Erikson's Identity vs. Role Confusion stage, marked by intense emotional closeness, possessive behavior, and identity confusion; (2) contributing factors are multidimensional, with disharmonious family conditions as the most fundamental factor, compounded by peer influence, sensitive personality, and social media exposure; (3) the impacts encompass psychological (emotional stress, identity confusion), social (stigma, isolation), and academic dimensions (declining motivation and concentration). This study affirms the importance of empathic, non-judgmental Islamic Guidance and Counseling services to support healthy adolescent identity formation.
