Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the effectiveness of the Word Mapping Strategy on students' mastery of understanding at SMAN 9 Bengkulu City, as observed by Ten grade students at SMAN 9 Bengkulu City. The method in this research is a quantitative method with an experimental research type. The population of this study were students at SMAN 9 Bengkulu City. This research was conducted with two groups, namely the experimental class using the Word Audio Lingual Method Strategy and the control class without using the Word Audio Lingual Method Strategy. First, the researcher gave a pre-test to both classes. After that, the researcher gave a post-test to both classes. Pre-test and pot-test scores are collected from multiple choice. then analyzed using the SPPS 20 for windows. The findings of this research indicate that teaching and learning using the Audio lingual Method Strategy is effective. The average score of the experimental class from the pre-test was 49,1 and the posttest was 75,3. This is proven by the tcount value (2.542). Next, the hypothesis test obtained a 2-tailed sig (p) of 0.13 while alpha (a) was 0.05 (0.14<0.05). So, the influence of the Audio Lingual Method Strategy in teaching understanding has a significant effect on student completion. So, it can be concluded that the use of the spotify podcast application has a significant influence on the listening ability of high school students, especially at SMAN 09 Bengkulu City.
