Abstract
Two academic issues emerged: How is character formation based on the seven habits of great Indonesian children program at Islamic boarding schools in Bengkulu City (a study at Al-Qur'an As-Syakur Islamic Boarding School in Bengkulu City)? And What are the obstacles in character formation based on the seven habits of great Indonesian children program at Islamic boarding schools in Bengkulu City (a study at Al-Qur'an As-Syakur Islamic Boarding School in Bengkulu City)? The purpose of this study is to determine the understanding of students at the Asyakur Islamic Boarding School in Bengkulu City regarding character formation based on the program of seven habits of great Indonesian children at Islamic boarding schools in Bengkulu City (a study at the Al Qur'an As Syakur Islamic Boarding School in Bengkulu City) and to find out what are the obstacles in character formation based on the program of seven habits of great Indonesian children at Islamic boarding schools in Bengkulu City (a study at the Al Qur'an As Syakur Islamic Boarding School in Bengkulu City). This research method is a qualitative method, with data collection using interview, observation and documentation techniques. The results of the study are as follows: The formation of the character of students is: waking up early, praying, exercising, eating healthy and nutritious food, loving to learn, being social, and sleeping early. These seven habits are designed to form the character of students who are disciplined, physically and mentally healthy, independent, religious, and caring about their social environment. The implementation of this program takes place comprehensively through the supervision of caregivers, daily routine activities, and internalization of Islamic values that are structured in Islamic boarding school life. As a result, students demonstrated positive developments in terms of time discipline, adherence to religious practices, enthusiasm for learning, social responsibility, and the ability to manage themselves independently in daily routines. During implementation, various obstacles were identified that hampered optimal character development. Some of these obstacles include: Differences in background and parenting styles of students before entering the Islamic boarding school, which resulted in slow adaptation; Lack of internal motivation among students to consciously practice habits, rather than simply following rules; Limited number of caregivers, resulting in less than optimal supervision and guidance; Supporting facilities such as study rooms, sports fields, and nutritious food that were not entirely adequate; Minimal family involvement in supporting children's character at home; and negative influences from the media and the external environment during students' holidays.
