Abstract

The aim of this study is to find out the barriers to speaking English that students of the Islamic banking study program FEBI UIN FAS Bengkulu semester 7 have. Researchers use descriptive quantitative research as a research design and use observation checklists, interviews to gather data. Data analysis techniques in this study use data collection, data reduction, data display, and data drawing and verification. Obstacles to speaking English occur for several reasons: students are afraid to make mistakes because there is a bad correction from other students; students feel ashamed because they are passive people; students are anxious about the examination from the lecturer; students lack self-confidence because they lack vocabulary; and students have a lack of motivation because English is a boring subject.
