Abstract

This study was motivated by the important role of shadow teachers in assisting hyperactive children to participate effectively in learning activities. The study aimed to describe the role of shadow teachers in managing hyperactive children's behavior and to identify the supporting and inhibiting factors influencing their role at PAUD Alam Mahira, Bengkulu City. This research employed a qualitative descriptive approach. The research participants consisted of one Shadow Teacher Coordinator and two Shadow Teachers. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis followed the Miles and Huberman model, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was ensured through source and technique triangulation. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach. The research subjects were teachers and shadow teachers directly involved in handling hyperactive children. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis used the Miles and Huberman model, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was ensured through source triangulation and technique triangulation. The findings revealed that shadow teachers play roles as educators, facilitators, mentors, motivators, classroom managers, and evaluators in managing hyperactive children's behavior. These roles are implemented through individualized assistance, behavioral guidance, positive reinforcement, behavior management, and learning strategies adjusted to each child's characteristics and needs. Supporting factors include teachers' competence and understanding, cooperation with parents, supportive learning facilities and environment, and support from the school. Factors requiring continuous improvement include the diverse characteristics of hyperactive children, strengthening coordination with parents, and the continuous development of teachers' competencies and educational facilities. Therefore, collaboration among shadow teachers, schools, and families plays an essential role in supporting the optimal development of hyperactive children.
